Clash of the Titans

Song of the moment: Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps CAKE

I learned today that Massive Attack is hard at work on a soundtrack. A soundtrack for what film, might you ask? Why, a remake of that 80’s classic, Clash of the Titans.

On the one hand, I don’t want this to be remade. It’s terrible and wonderful and a staple of my childhood. Plus, the remake sounds pretty dissimilar to the original. The original was the story of Perseus… kind of. The main antagonist was Calibos, son of Thetis, who was set to marry Andromeda before Zeus came along and turned the boy into a monstrous creature. Perseus goes on a divine quest, gathers magical items (including the head of Medusa), slays Calibos, rescues Andromeda. All in all, stereotypical Greek myth fare.

The remake seems to feature Hades as the antagonist (I don’t even remember him featuring in the original…). The description I read of the movie is as follows:

Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny.

Big names, new plot… and said new plot sounds an awful lot like the plot of Disney’s Hercules.

…But remember how I said fucking Massive Attack is doing the music for it? Greek Gods and Trip Hop… This could be the most badass thing to ever enter my life.

This is Bubo. Love him.
